A-7D Corsair II Crash Site

Summery :

The LTV A-7 Corsair II is a carrier-capable subsonic light attack aircraft originally developed for the US Navy.
A-7D is the version built for the USAF, with updated engine & radar and cannon had replaced to a single M61 20mm Valcan.

This A-7D (#74-1753) was assigned to the 74th Tactical Fighter Wing, England AFB, Louisiana.

On September 27th 1976, a flight of three A-7Ds call sign Sandy 24-26 departed Nellis AFB, Nevada on a Red Flag range orientation mission.
The flight left the Nellis ranges and maintained route formation and made a turn.
After completing the turn, Sandy 24 (#74-1753) and Sandy 25 (#71-0361) collided.
The Sandy 24 became uncontrollable and the pilot ejected safely. The aircraft was destroyed on impact.
The Sandy 25 declared an emergency and made a flight back to Nellis AFB and safely landed.

Crash site has ton's of wrecks and a few of them are in a large (few feet long) size.
Engines, Wings, Pylons, Gears, Electronic parts etc...
Those wrecks were spread around for 10 acres over the desert floor.
